Raising a new rural woman : gender analysis of the Union of Agrarian Youth in Moravia before 1914

  • Original language description

This contribution deals with recruitment of women into the Agrarian Party in Moravia, structural changes and limits of their membership before 1914. In contrast to conservative czech political parties, the Moravian Agrarian Party presented itself as a young, progressive platform with equal rights for all its members and especially for women, but also as a pro-emancipation element in the land politics. In spite of this, there were no individual women groups in the party before 1914 and then only possible way to recruit women was the Union of Agrarian Youth. Methodologically, this contribution is anchored in gender qualitative and quantitative analysis.
