The Influence of John Wyclif on Jan Hus's Criticism of the Antichrist
Original language description
The influence of John Wyclif in Jan Hus's work is one of the popular topics in the research of Hus's work. There are various views of this issue. It is caused by the existence of a very complicated web of various influences whereas some of them are only the part of the oral tradition. This is one of the reasons why the influence of John Wyclif is such a frequent topic and the other (e.g. Czech oral tradition) not. But also the influence of Wyclif is problematic in regard to the topic of the Antichrist. Hus uses only some of Wyclif's ideas which are known also through St Augustinus; he uses some long passages from Wyclif's argumentation but mostly without the term Antichrist and its derivations, and he misses very strict passages e.g. about the identification of the pope with the Antichrist. The adaptation is very complicated and in my paper, I presented some new important details about this influence.
