Struggling with Fear, Praying for Hope? Emotions in Mendicant Travel Accounts about Asia
Original language description
The paper compares various references to fear in the accounts of John of Plano Carpini and William of Rubruck with the aim to understand each of the author´s discourse on the experience of travel. The discrepancies between the authors perspectives, although they concern very similar travel experience, are interpreted through the concept of "emotional communities" (B. Rosenwein).
