Franciscus Mayer invenit et delineavit : Side Notes on the Oeuvre of the Little-Known 18th-Century Viennese Draughtsman
Original language description
The article, based on a signed rector´s sheet of Johann Joseph Maximilian Dietmann, created shortly after 1765 by Franz de Paula Mayer, an official of the joint Czech and Austrian Court Chancellery in Vienna, specifies the author's drawing in the graphic collection of the National Gallery Prague. This brings new facts to the life and artistic work of this hitherto little-known artist, collaborating with Viennese reproduction engravers Franz Leopold Schmitner, Johann Ernst Mansfeld, Johann Christoph Winkler and Franz Sebastian Schauer and catalogue of his prints, ornamental engravings and book frontispieces.
