"Internal guidelines" of the rowohlts deutsche enzyklopädie : correspondence between Ernesto Grassi and Hans Sedlmayr about art in postwar Germany
Original language description
The article explores the hidden influence of Hans Sedlmayr (1896-1984) on the contributions on art in rowohlts deutsche enzyklopädie and on its editor Ernesto Grassi (1902-1991). It reveals Sedlmayr's thoughts on existential philosophers such as Albert Camus (1913-1960) and Martin Heidegger (1889-1976), the latter of whom directly influenced Sedlmayr's understanding of art.
