Changes in Czech Family Law in Light of the Principles of European Family Law
Original language description
Czech family law has recently been recodified as part of the new Civil Code. The intention of its main drafters was to build on the values and traditions of Christian and Jewish culture in the Czech Republic and at the same time to Czech family law with a new dimension, especially in relation to international human rights conventions and developments in the field of human rights in general. Some institutes have also been significantly influenced by the Principles of European Family Law (PEFL) developed by the Commission for European Family Law (CEFL) aiming at "better law" and harmonisation of family law systems in Europe. However, developments in this area are not over as further changes are on the way.
