Social Exclusion and Social Inclusion: the Czech Perspective
Original language description
The worst victims of social exclusion in the Czech Republic are the Roma, along with other, but so far not as numerous ethnic groups that have come to the Czech Republic as part of the normal flow of immigration, and the unemployed (although the Roma make up only a small share of the unemployed, the majority of Roma of economically active age are unemployed). Few new environments of spatial exclusion are being created at present; they may develop quickly, however, in areas with high levels of unemployment due to the obsolete industrial structure of some regions and big cities (for example, the large-scale housing complexes for workers in the mining and metallurgy industries in northern Moravia, or the rural regions of western Bohemia). The issue of costs borne by individuals and society during the processes of social exclusion and inclusion is a very complex problem, of which there is practically zero discussion in society today
