Gender Division of Work and the Labour Market Re-entry of the Czech Women after the Parental Leave

  • Original language description

This text takes up the question of the influence of gender roles and gender division of work in decisions of Czech women to return from parental leave to the labor market. This question stems from findings of contemporary literature. The division of unpaid work between men and women is perceived as an important factor placing women at a disadvantage in the labor market, and as a factor limiting choices by women in relation to combining paid work and family. The objective of this text is to uncover whatgender division of work is like in the Czech Republic as a post-communist country, what determines it, and particularly how women perceive it: whether they interpret it as an enforced division and as a barrier to a smooth (and timely) return to the labormarket or whether gender division of work corresponds to their preferences and why.
