Back to the local? Transnational media flows and audience consumption patterns in the CEE region
Original language description
This chapter maps the development and current state of audiovisual flows and audiences' preferences in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly with respect to the question of the competitiveness of the local audiovisual entertainmnent versus imported programmes. Apart from this, it also aims to explore the intra-regional similarities and differences in the amount and popularity of domestic programming in relation to a set of economic factors that enable analysis of data from a broader research perspective and answer the question why some countries have been more successful than others in challenging the inflow of audiovisual imports and replacing them with locally produced programmes.
