Gender Gap in Repartnering
Original language description
This chapter reviews current empirical literature on the gender gap in re-partnering. It highlights the crucial role of custodial children in producing this gap. It proposes that current trends in gender stratification (within and outside of the household) and in parenting might change re-partnering behaviours and preferences. Thus, the paper concludes that comparative research directly measuring needs, desires and preferences is necessary to assess the sources of re-partnering change.
