Original language description
The entry covers various methods for analyzing communication related to the spread of COVID-19, which is considered an unprecedented pandemic in modern history. While humanity has faced several pandemics before, this is the first time that modern science and technology have been available to deploy and adapt strategies to the globalized world. Real-time global knowledge and the tools were available to handle a pandemic for the first time. Countries have adopted diverse approaches not only to handle the pandemic but also to communicate measures. Although the outbreak of the pandemic in the first half of 2020 could be analyzed from the perspective of crisis communication, the subsequent two years demonstrated that risk communication strategies were better suited to the prolonged emergency, which featured waves of varying intensity.
