Original language description

The Brunovistulian Terrane was similarly as the Eastern Avalonia Terrane a part of the Panafrican (Cadomian) Gondwana margin. The lithological record of the Cambrian marine sediments may indicate the extension and rifting connected with the fragmentationof Gondwana while the faunistic record of Cambrian fauna shows close relation to Baltica (Belka et al. 1999). It is assumed that the Brunovistulian Terrane was amalgamated to the southeastern margin of Baltica and dextral translation is characteristic for its contact with northern Malopolska Terrane along the Krakow-Lubliniec Zone (Grygar, Vavro 1995). Thus the Brunovistulian Terrane was amalgamated to Baltica similarly as the Eastern Avalonia Terrane in the Lower Paleozoic, however, the Eastern Avalonian Terrane shows, contrary to the Brunovistulian Terrane, predominant sinistral translation.
