APPLICATION OF PASSIVE AIR SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
Original language description
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), their fate in environment, long-range atmospheric transport, and tendency to bioaccumulation are still in the center of interest of the current research. To comprehend the whole scope of the problem, simultaneous long-term measurements of POPs concentrations in the ambient air in many locations are often needed. However, realization of such campaign is expensive, and often difficult to organize. Passive air sampling represents a technique, which provides powerful alternative to the conventional high volume air sampling methods. In respond to the need for inexpensive and simple monitoring of persistent organic pollutants in the atmosphere the range of passive air-sampling techniques were developed. These devices arecapable of deployment in many locations at the same time, which offers new possibilities for the large scale monitoring projects. As it provides information about long-term contamination of the selected site, passive air sampling can be
