Global UV and biologically effective UVB radiation at Vernadsky Station, Galindez Island, Antarctica
Original language description
The results of the first three years of measurements of the intensity of global ultraviolet and biologically effective UVB radiation are presented. The radiation data were taken within the period of 2002-2004 at the Ukrainian Station Vernadsky, GalindezIsland, Antarctica. The impact of ozone depletion, planetary wave activity and clouds on high variability of global UV and biologically effective UVB radiation was examined. These relations were analyzed with a special respect to the influence of cloudiness, and cloud type on the daily sums of UV radiation. Contrastingly, three highest values of the biologically effective UVB radiation occurred after the cessation of ozone depletion on November 25 and 27 and December 5, 2003.
