    Consolidation of Tungsten Disilicide WSi2 by Plasma Spraying

  • Original language description

    Wear-resistant and heat-resistant coatings as well as free-standing parts of tungsten disilicide were manufactured by plasma spraying. Tungsten disilicide powder was processed by water stabilized plasma, generated by IPPs WSP plasma torch, which can reach exit temperatures up to 28000 K. Oxidation of the molten silicide was prevented by an argon protective atmosphere and by "auto-shrouding" effect. Their mechanical and oxidation behavior was compared with samples prepared by powder metallurgy techniques, sintered in the ASEA apparatus and also in the HP-type apparatus. Heat-resistant coatings exhibited high resistance against oxidation similarly to MoSi2 produced by the same way. Tungsten disilicide feedstock was prepared by direct heating of the powder mixture of tungsten and silicon at 1350-1400 C and secondly by plasma spheoidization of granules (20-63 microns in size) of powder mixture of tungsten and silicon with 3% of a polyvinylalcohol binder by the technique known as freeze gra

    Slinování disilicidu wolframu plazmovým nástřikem

    Otěruvzdorné a žárovzdorné povlaky a skořepinové součásti z disilicidu wolframu byly připraveny plazmovým nástřikem. Disilicid byl zpracován ve vodou stabilizovaném plazmatu z generátoru WSP, které v ústí trysky dosahuje teploty až 28000 K. Oxidace taveného disilicidu byla potlačena ochrannou atmosférou tzv. autoshrouding-efektu. Mechanické a korozní vlastnosti plazmově deponovaných vzorků byly porovnány se vzorky, připravenými metodami práškové metalurgie, slinutými metodou HIP a HP v podmínkách 100-270 MPa a 1700-1800 C.K plazmovým depozicím byla použita směs wolframu a křemíku s polyvinylalkoholovou vazbou, sferoidizovaná metofou freeze granulation.
