Original language description
The year 1926 is one of the most significant data in the history of Czechoslovak psychology, because it represents the beginning of the professionalisation of psychology as an experimental discipline. The Institute of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, was founded on Professor Mihajlo Rostohars own initiative. His research work and theoretical studies in Gestalt psychology gained him an international reputation. He was mostly concerned that the experimental conditions be as natural as possible. With a group of enthusiastic collaborators and contributors (V. Chmelař, R. Konečný, F. Kratina, E. Pejhovský, L. Koláříková, J. Uher et al.) Rostohar founded and edited Psychology (1935-1950), the first journal of psychology in Czechoslovakia, which appeared in Brno. It is possible to speak about the Brno School of Rostohar.
