Aluminium in the water of the neogene-paleogene aquifer of Wielkopolska
Original language description
The Neogene-Paleogene aquifer plays an important role in supplying the population of Wielkopolska, Poland, with water, both potable and for domestic purposes. This especially concerns the areas where there are no aquifers in the Quaternary layer, or where the level of water in the existing aquifers is low, or their chemical composition is of poor quality. The hydrogeochemical environment of the Neogene-Paleogene aquifer displays considerable variability determined by geogenic factors and manifested by large differences in water chemistry, especially its colour, hardness, and the levels of chlorides, iron and manganese. The differences in quality are particularly significant in the region of the Poznań-Oleśnica graben, where water ascends from the deeper Mesozoic aquifers.
