Microclimate or bat bugs (Cimicidae): possible cause of roost switching by vespertilionid bats
Original language description
the study did not show that bats leave bat boxes at the beginning of lactation due to different microclimatic needs during this period, but suggests that pipistrelle bats leave their roosts to prevent the massive reproduction of bat bugs by temporarily abandoning particular roosts. Nevertheless, they are unable to rid their roosts of the ectoparasites completely, which is the obvious consequence of co-evolution of Pipistrellus bats and Cimex bugs under the conditions of the temperate climate.
