The small annelids (Annelida: Enchytraeidae, Rhyacodrilinae, Aeolosomatidae) in soils of three forests in the White Carpathians (Czech Republic)
Original language description
Assemblages of soil-dwelling enchytraeids and other small annelids were studied in three broadleaved forests in the White Carpathians (south-eastern Moravia, Czech Republic) along a soil pH gradient from moderately acidic to neutral. Enchytraeid densities ranged from ca 4,600 to 22,500 individuals/m2. With increasing soil pH, densities for samples collected on the same day tended to decrease and the vertical distribution in the upper soil layer became more even. In total, 31 species of the family Enchytraeidae, Rhyacodrilus falciformis Bretscher, 1901 (Naididae), Aeolosoma hemprichi Ehrenberg, 1831 and A. niveum Leidy, 1865 (Aeolosomatidae) were found. The species richness (ca 22 species) of the assemblages was similar and dominated by the genus Fridericia, both in terms of the number of species and individuals. Four enchytraeid species, i.e. F. reducata Dózsa-Farkas, 1974, F.
