Function and structure studies of lectin from bioluminescent bacterium Photorhabdus luminescens
Original language description
Lectins are proteins that bind mono- and oligosaccharides reversibly and with very high specificity, but in contrast to antibodies, they are not products of an immune response. Lectins of pathogenic microorganisms target host glycoconjugates for recognition and adhesion process, which is the first step of the invasion and infectivity. The contribution is focused on characterization of the lectin from Gram-negative bacterium Photorhabdus luminescens, especially on determination of the structure and function properties.
