Analysis of solar UV radiation at the Mendel Station, Antarctica, based on satellite ozone retrieval and cloudiness variation
Original language description
The effects of cloudiness and satellite-based ozone measurements on erythemally effective ultraviolet (EUV) radiation were examined using a non-linear regression model. The model predicted 98.6% variability of the EUV radiation. The residuals between themeasured and predicted EUV radiation intensities were evaluated separately for the ranges of solar elevation angle, total ozone content, and surface reflectivity. The quality of the non-linear model was also documented by the normal probability plots and relative frequency distributions of the EUV residuals according to different categories of cloudiness.
