Phase transformations of the Ag-Cu nanoparticles
Original language description
The near-eutectic composition Ag-Cu nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by solvothermal synthesis from metallo-organic precursors. The nanoparticle size was measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS). The size and shape were evaluated by electron microscopy (TEM and HRTEM). The phase diagrams of the AgCu system of both bulk alloy and nanoparticles were calculated [1] by the CALPHAD method [2] and then compared with experimental findings. Thermal behaviour was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and temperature controlled X-ray diffraction method (t-XRD). The observed phase transformations were AgCu bulk alloy melting (BM), nanoparticle melting point depression (MPD) and spinodal decomposition (SD). Moreover NPs aggregation and low temperature sintering (LTS) phenomena were observed experimentally too. The electron microscopy (TEM, SEM) observation was used for bulk alloy, microparticles (MP), and nanoparticles.
