Parasitological examination, i.e., dissection or necropsy, is the basic method necessary to obtain parasites, especially for endoparasites. The chapter provides basic information about the most important requirements and rules concerning the examination of fish for parasites. The contents of the chapter include these sections: equipment and facilities important for fish dissection, catching and condition of fish for examination, humane killing of fish, fish (host) identification and labelling, and fish anatomy and handling.
