The State of the Climate report is an international, peer-reviewed publication released each summer to provide an authoritative and comprehensive annual summary of the global climate system. The report is published as a supplement to the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS). The report summarizes the global and regional climate of the preceding calendar year and provides historical context for its findings. Recent editions cover the majority of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) Essential Climate Variables, with input from hundreds of authors from more than 60 nations.
