    The presentation "LIFE in Salt Marshes, LIFE for amphibians: Complex ecological restoration of degraded and disappearing salt marshes in Moravian Pannonia" highlights the urgent need to restore degraded inland salt marshes in the region. These ecosystems have suffered from habitat loss, eutrophication, and invasive species, leading to a significant decline in biodiversity. The project aims to restore 20 hectares of salt marshes and enhance biodiversity across 506 hectares using a mix of traditional methods like mowing and grazing, along with innovative techniques. A key focus is on conserving amphibians such as Bombina bombina (fire-bellied toad) and Triturus dobrogicus (Danube newt), as well as other endangered species that rely on these habitats. The project also seeks to increase climate resilience, reduce water pollution, and improve habitat heterogeneity, creating more robust ecosystems. Community involvement plays a central role, with local municipalities, farmers, and volunteers actively engaged in restoration and management efforts. This collaboration ensures long-term sustainability, as local stakeholders take responsibility for maintaining the restored ecosystems. Additionally, the project generates valuable knowledge through management plans and expert recommendations, which will be shared across Europe. This knowledge transfer aims to influence conservation policies and practices continent-wide.
