Archaeometric evidence of Medieval transoceanic trade networks from Madayi (India)
Original language description
The medieval site of Madayi on India's southwestern coast was a critical hub in the Indian Ocean's transoceanic trade networks during the Middle Ages. This study explores the diverse array of global goods found at Madayi, including Chinese and Western Asia ceramics. The research reveal the production and circulation of these commodities. The detailed analysis of ceramics, their technology and origins, supported by methods such as SEM-EDX, XRD, and petrography, reveals Madayi's integration into the broader exchange networks that connected Indian Ocean and Southeast Asian societies.
