    Guidelines for RussNet structuring

    This paper describes methods of constructing RussNet - a wordnet-like thesaurus for Russian. The first part of the paper deals with the standard wordnet techniques developed in the frame of Princeton WordNet, EuroWordNet and BalkaNet projects, and theiradjustment for the Russian data. The obtained results have their practical value for the RussNet project, nonetheless, they are of theoretical importance, as they allow us to estimate the existing lexical Russian resources, such as explanatory dictionaries, thesauri and semantic lexicons from the viewpoint of lexical knowledge extraction and representation. In the second part of the paper we present a general strategy of RussNet construction using various lexical resources for Russian, such as text corpora, frequency lists, conventional dictionary definitions and word association norms. The presented methods enable us to adequately represent the specific features of the Russian lexicon, and to minimize the subjectivity of lexical data d
