Making Text Content Accessible for Users with Dyslexia in Czech
Original language description
The inability of users with dyslexia to decode information is as socially restrictive as the inability of the visually impaired to read information. Furthermore, a dysfunction in one of the senses is often balanced by higher sensitivity in other senses. However, users with dyslexia are not deprived of a sense. According to research studies, the words in text should not contain many letters (or letters in close proximity) that are visually similar. There is a significant difference in the ease with whichwords in different languages can be decoded. Therefore, an application which modifies text in different languages is very much needed. Such a development would not only be a significant technological evolution, but furthermore would impart significant social and educational benefits for users with dyslexia by increasing, for instance, their accessibility to informative materials. Because of the importance of language, we focus on developing the application for Czech-speaking users.
