Recent approaches to teaching writing have emphasized creating active learners. The Internet has created new opportunities to establish a decentralized teaching environment, with teachers as guides instead of as the only sources of information. This paper will briefly introduce the process genre approach and describe some ways to use the Internet to supplement, or even supplant, in-class instruction.
