Burning Issues in English Language Didactics
Original language description
The efforts to emancipate English language didactics, to establish it as an autonomous scientific discipline, have been going on for quite some time. The core of discussion will relate to the specific controversies (or burning issues) in English languagedidactics. In addition to learning from other subject matter didactics and from other culturally shaped conceptions, it is also advisable to consider how the field is conceptualised in the fields of learning and teaching other foreign languages, German,French, Russian, etc. In the presentation, main attention will be paid to delineating the key concepts, content and methods of English language didactics, specifically then to the relationship between the so-called referential scientific disciplines andEnglish language didactics. Obviously, the key relationship to be discussed is that of linguistics and English language didactics, furthermore, the second /foreign language acquisition theory and research must not be neglected, etc.
