FSP Analysis of Philippians 2:5-11 (Language, Aesthetics and Ideology)

  • Original language description

The present paper offers a functional analysis of one biblical extract (Philippians 2:5-11), which is analysed and discussed from the point of view of the Firbasian theory of functional sentence perspective. It looks at different aspects of the text, especially in regard to the ideology and aesthetics employed. Research has shown that the writer?s communicative purpose is typically related to the aesthetic function carried by the text and determines the writer?s communicative strategies.
