A note to determine microhardness of coated materials
Original language description
Materials covered with thin layers of suitable properties, are becoming increasingly important in engineering practice. The mechanical properties of such layers can be either measured di-rectly using special nanohardness equipments, or indirectly using various mathematical - phys-ical models using conventional testers. Our work deals with a simple model for determining the microhardness of thin layers from known microhardness of substrate and "compound" one of system substrate + layer. The validity of the model was experimentally verified.
