Why We Should move from Rorty to "Rortwey"
Original language description
The chapter analyzes the relationship of the works of the two most important representatives of pragmatism - Richard Rorty and John Dewey. The author examines them from three points of view. At the level of philosophical content, their historical significance concerning the evolution of American philosophy, and their literary style. The analysis shows that Rorty's work still stands on some unfortunate starting points of analytical philosophy. Dewey's approach is much modern than Rorty´s. It can be relate to the results of current research on cognitive sciences and neurobiology. Yet Rorty wrote in a beautiful and bright style and is much more read in this aspect. Thus author concludes with regret that it would be great if both great American philosophers could merge into "Rortwey.
