The work being submitted was undertaken at the multiyear secondary school in Nova Dubnice in the Slovak Republic. 80 children (40 girls and 40 boys) took part in the research. All the children were 10 years old. Monitoring was done using the questionnaire method. This work contains results concerning the physical activities and diet of the children questioned. The results show that 85.7% of boys 10 years of age are of normal weight. Only two boys out of the entire group had an alarmingly high weight, with another two being in the above average weight group. The majority of girls (52.6%) were of normal weight. 10 girls were of reduced weight and 8 girls were overweight. Overall, 27.5% of the children were overweight, with 2.5% being obese. The majorityof children indicated that sport was very important to them (on a scale of 1-10, most children rated the importance of sport at 8).
