Comparison of Somatotypic components of Czech and Portuguese male and female students of Physical Education
Original language description
The aim of this study was to achieve a somatotypological comparison of male and female Physical Education students. Physical parameters of 246 students were measured using standardized anthropometrical methods and somatotypes were counted in line with the Heath-Carter Somatotype Method. It was proved that Portuguese male and female students differ from Czech ones even in basic parameters ? body mass, height and BMI. The comparison of somatotypological components approved our assumptions ? Portuguese male and female students have generally more developed endomorphic component and less developed mesomorphic component than Czech students. The assumption about ectomorphy was proved only in case of male students ? Portuguese male students have less developed ectomorphic component than Czech male students. Female students acquired opposite values ? Portuguese female students have more developed ectomorphic component than Czech female students.
