The economic crisis of the past several years not only had a powerful impact on majo macroeconomic indicators, but even today, its consequences on public finance is critical. Massive public expanditure and efficiency improvements are necessary. In the core part of paper, the question of whether New Public Management (NPM) might be helpful or whether it is a distortive solution in the current situation will be discussed.
