  • Original language description

This book is an edited volume presenting broadly understood socio-economic, functional and spatial transformation taking place in the post-socialist cities situated in selected countries of the Central European region. The region of Central Europe is located between the areas of Western and Eastern Europe. It is distinguished on the basis of several factors, including geographic location, history and common socio-economic elements. The research problem examined in the book is the in-depth analysis of the structural socio-economic changes ongoing in post-socialist cities of Central Europe. The main research aim is to present a comprehensive summary of the processes of socio-economic and demographic changes taking place in the studied cities after the fall of communism. It is about identifying the factors that have initiated the transformation of economy and society, giving a comprehensive presentation of transformation processes and their effects on the contemporary socio-economic, demographic, functional and spatial structure of post-socialist cities in the region of Central Europe.
