The Role of E-learning in Teaching English for Medical Purposes: From Anatomy to Test Skills
Original language description
The use of e-learning in higher-education context has been on the increase in the last decade or so thanks to technological advances and more learner- and teacher-friendly environments. The paper discusses the roles of specific e-learning tools that wereused in developing study materials for EMP (English for medical purposes) courses. The tools being freely available to Masaryk university academic staff within the university?s Information System played an important role in enhancing successful languagelearning. They (1) supported the students in their learning both medical English and test skills, (2) helped the teacher in his efforts to make the lessons more effective and relevant to the students, and (3) provided valuable feedback concerning the validity of the created e-learning study materials. To confirm the usefulness of the materials, a student opinion poll was also carried out to find out what the students thought of the materials.
