Beyond the Legal English classroom: Mediating real life to undergraduates
Original language description
For a long time, the theory in the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) has placed an emphasis on the cultivation of students’ skills in the foreign language (Dudley-Evans & St John 1998), but it is only in recent years that the discipline has started addressing various aspects of experiential learning and the new communicative skill of ‘mediation’ (Dendrinos 2006, Chovancová 2016) that has been introduced even into the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR).The poster illustrates how aspects of experiential learning can be suitably introduced into legal ESP courses, presenting a series of tasks and activities that connect the legal classroom and the real world.
