The Aarhus convention and Directive 2003/4/EC On public access to environmental information objective enables that any citizen can be informed about environmental matters and can use this information for active participation in decision making and environmental protection. Their support by modern web information and communication technology (ICT) tools is going to be pillars of eDemocracy and eParticipation in eGovernment. The paper describes the reality and challenges for ÍCT implementation for publicaccess to environmental information and services in Europe and efforts to integrate environmental information in a Single Information Space in Europe for the Environment.
