SALD ICP MS for detection and characterization of gold nanoparticles
Original language description
Typical methods for characterization and determination of size and morfology of nanoparticles are SEM, TEM, STM, AFM or SIMS. Alternatively nanoparticles can be characterized using a common nebulizer-equipped ICP MS. To detect and characterize the nanoparticles, we test a new technique for sample introduction into plasma, substrate-assisted laser desorption (SALD). A standard solution of commercial gold nanoparticles was deposited on poly(ethylene terephthalate) glycol (PETG) sample plate and desorbed with 213-nm laser. The initial results are presented and feasibility of the technique for nanoparticle characterization is discussed.
