3D CHEMICAL MAPPING OF SELECTED GEOLOGICAL SAMPLES USING COMBINATION OF LASER-INDUCED BREAKDOWN SPECTROSCOPY AND uCT
Original language description
In this paper it is described quasi-nondestructive 3D chemical mapping of minerals using combination of information from uCT, Tescan Integrated Mineral analyzer (TIMA) and Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) measurements. The described results bring information about spatial deposition and volume of selected minerals within the volume of the sample and partially from the surface. The main point of suggested approach is to assign the different densities from the tomogram to the different elementsand minerals respectively from the chemical maps obtained via LIBS on the sample surface. In order to achieve best possible spatial resolution and plasma intensity double pulse LIBS (DP LIBS) was utilized. The spot size was assessed on 50 um via opticalprofilometer (MicroProf 100, FRT) and in respect to this size the spatial resolution was selected on 100 um in both directions.
