Consolidation of Paint Layer with Lime Nanosols
Original language description
The chapter deals with possibilities of consolidation of paint layers of wall paintings using lime nanosols (nanosuspensions). At first, laboratory testing was carried out on test panels to prepare testing on real objects. Based on this test, a procedure was chosen where the lime suspension was applied in several cycles at a relatively low concentration. This procedure was successfully applied within the consolidation of the medieval paintings in the church of St. Vitus in Zahradka near Ledec nad Sazavou. Different procedure was chosen for the consolidation of the extremely damaged baroque paintings in the chapel of St. Isidor in Krenov near Moravska Trebova. Here, the lime suspensions were applied in combinations, respectively mixtures with ethylsilicates. The article also provides a fairly detailed analysis of application risks, and then provides guidance on how to perform the consolidation successfully without the creation of white veil, which is potentially the main risk of application.
