The online conference presents the results of the Erasmus plus project "AnthroAction: increasing employability and societal impact of action researchers" and discusses them in broader context of applied anthropology and research for diverse organizations. At the beginning of the 2025, The University of Pardubice and Namla finished a pilot course for graduates of anthropology in Czech Republic and Netherlands, where graduates learned to combine ethnography and design thinking to solve a real-world problem suggested by real NGOs. The AnthroAction conference offers reflections of organizers (Hana Synková, Rosalie Post), graduates of the course, NGOs that we did research for, and a video from the pitch event. The bigger picture of applied anthropology is presented by keynote lectures of Laurens Bakker (co-author of Anthropologists wanted: Why Organizations Need Anthropology and designer of applied anthropology MA at Amsterdam University), Karolina Kania and Martin Dolský (inspiration from applied freelancers and organizations, who already entered the job market) and smaller contributions of three other established European applied anthropologists. Discussion was held in common online conference space and in breakout rooms.
