Continuous Diffusion Dialysis of Organic Acids

  • Original language description

The paper deals with diffusion dialysis of organic acids in a continuous dialyzer with an anion-exchange membrane Neosepta-AMH, where water has been used as a stripping agent. The experiments, which cover five organic acids (oxalic, acetic, citric, tartaric and lactic acid), have been carried out to find the effect of the inlet acid concentration and liquid flow rate of both the streams upon mass transfer rate. Overall dialysis coefficient and recovery efficiency of acid have been used for quantitativeevaluation of the process mentioned. At the lowest initial acid concentration, it has been ound that mass transfer rate decreases in the series oxalic, tartaric, acetic, lactic, and citric acid.
