Ink Trapping Evaluation in Halftone Areas
Original language description
Quality evaluation of two process colours overprints from halftone samples has a potential to be useful, because of most halftone patterns in the colour print. Print characteristic of ink trapping determines the quality of overprints. This paper describes an image analysis method of ink trapping evaluation based on direct computing of the colour difference. Measuring and evaluation of ink trapping has been performed with images gained from halftone regions scanned with the CCD camera. Processes of colour separation and region segmentation form separated regions containing individual process colours and their overprints. Evaluation of colour difference is executed between the colour of real overprint region and the theoretical colour computed from regions of primary process colours. The work has resulted in the fact, that the parameter describing the overprint quality can be evaluated as the colour difference between the real and theoretical overprint. The advantages of proposed method
