    This work deals with free radical and cationic photoinitiators, which can be used in printing inks with the aim of suggesting new hybrid photoinitiators. These photoinitiators can start free radical and cationic polymerization of cationic and radical polymerizing monomers. Two hybrid photoinitiators were prepared from free radical photoinitiator 1-[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]-2- hydroxy-2-methylpropan-1-on and cationic photoinitiator [(?5-2,4-cyclopentadien-1-yl)(?6-chlorobenzene)]iron hexafluorophosphate. These newly created hybrid photoinitiators decompose after UV light exposure and can be effectively used as photoinitiators for radical and cationic polymerization reaction. Absorption profiles prepared hybrid photoinitiators were measured by UV-VIS spectroscopy and the polymerization activity was measured by FTIR spectroscopy. Prepared photoinitiators were compared with the commercially available photoinitiators Irgacure 261 and Irgacure 2959.
