Stiffness of Moulded Fibre Products
Original language description
Moulded fibre products manufactured by a special technology of processing recycled paper are used as packaging of very fragile product such as eggs, as fruit and vegetables packaging or as cup carriers for easy carrying of drinks. The manufacture of moulded products usually comprises two steps. Vacuum forming, when a positive die is immersed in fibre suspension, the semi-product is blown off on to a carrier by a negative die, and enters a hot air dryer. In this paper, the effect of some geometrical parameters of suction moulded form, such as the form thickness, hole diameter, and hole spacing, on the bending stiffness was investigated. Moulded fibre specimens were made of a mixture of recycled pulp fibres consisting of old newspapers, old magazines, andold corrugated containers in the furnish ratio 50 : 40 : 10. Geometrical parameters of the suction form were as follows: form thickness 12, 20, and 30 mm, hole spacing 5, 10, 20, and 30 mm, and hole diameter 1, 2, and 3 mm. Machine speed
