Pressure drop in the flow of viscoelastic fluids through filter screens

  • Original language description

The pressure drop measurements in the flow of Newtonian and non-Newtonian polymer solutions through two metal filter screens have been performed. In the flow of viscoelastic liquids an elastic pressure drop excess has been observed. It has been verifiedthat the pressure drop in the flow of a viscoelastic liquid can be predicted, analogous to the flow through porous media using Deborah number correction function . At the same time, the initial pressure drop of the purely viscous power law liquid can becalculated according to the proposed dependence of the friction coefficient on the Reynolds number.
