    Fall of spherical particles in highly elastic shear thinning fluids

  • Original language description

    New measurements of terminal velocities of spherical particles falling in viscoelastic shear thinning polymer solutions have been presented. Model liquids used were more concentrated aqueous solutions of high molecular polyacryl amides. The values of thedrag coefficient correction factor were evaluated from experiments and compared with those calculated for the fall in an inelastic Carreau model fluid. The dependence of the drag coefficient correction factor on the Deborah number has been presented.
